The "cool pose" is a way for youth to prove themselves in hope to gain respect from peers. It includes physical behavior, clothing, style of speech, types of dance, and handshaking.  

 

This made Tupac a unique artist because he maintained his "cool pose" and hyper-masculine behavior while expressing truth and directness like "Dear Mama" and "Keep Ya Head Up."  The "sool pose" can be a coping mechanism to combat racial oppression for some but can result in cultural appropiration for the benefit of corporations.
